Petit Amour has been a fixture of Hamburg's fine dining scene for years and has held two Michelin stars since 2018. Head chef Boris Kasprik cooks a haute cuisine grounded in French tradition, which he consistently develops further with Nordic ingredients and a clear, almost puristic signature. Instead of opulent classicism he relies on precise aromas, seasonal produce and quiet, technically clean work on the plate - classical in its frame, modern in its gesture. The restaurant sits in Ottensen on the corner of Spritzenplatz, in the middle of one of Altona's most lively neighbourhoods between cafés, small shops and period buildings. Despite the central location it feels tucked away, almost like a well-kept neighbourhood secret. Two menus are offered, six to eight courses, classic and vegetarian, supplemented by a curated wine pairing with a focus on France. Recurring accents: Breton lobster, North Sea turbot, locally hunted venison, alongside fermented and acid-driven components. Caviar and truffle supplements are also available. The dining room seats around 30 in a restrained, warm interior - dark wood, soft lighting, white linen. The atmosphere is focused but not stiff; the service is attentive and unhurried. Reservations are strongly recommended several weeks in advance, particularly for Friday and Saturday. The menu currently runs to about 215 to 255 euros per person, wine pairing from around 130 euros - there are no à la carte main course prices, the house works exclusively with set menus. Getting there: S-Bahn S1/S3 or S11 to Altona, then eight minutes on foot; alternatively S-Bahn Bahrenfeld or bus 2 to Spritzenplatz. Ideal for: special occasions, culinarily ambitious evenings and guests who want to experience star cuisine in a relaxed Ottensen setting.
