Three times a year (March/April, July/August and November/December) the Heiligengeistfeld next to the Millerntor turns into the DOM, Hamburg's much-loved traveling funfair. More than 250 showmen set up rides, shooting galleries and beer tents, drawing some 16 million visitors annually and giving the city its loudest, brashest family program – a deeply Hanseatic tradition with a thoroughly fairground heart, equally fun for families by day and groups of friends after dark.
